"There is good news for the 30,000 Australian women having hysterectomies each year, with an increasingly popular procedure set to make up to 90% of hysterectomy operations obsolete", reports Helen Wellings. Here is a great little feature on fibroid embolisation that appeared on Channel 7 News, Sydney.

Uterine artery embolisation remains an under utilised treatment in Australia compared to Europe. I was fascinated to recently find The Womens Hospital, Melbourne does not offer this to it's major stakeholders (Victorian women) despite The American College of Obstetricians & Gynacologists, NHS (UK) and The Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetricans and Gynacologists practice recommendations of informed consent.
